Advice, Tips & Tricks

Insurance

Whilst we take care of our customers as we would our own family moves, the process of relocating furnishings and belongings can be complex.

We’re only human, and sometimes, although rarely, things happen. In almost all cases, breakage does not occur.  But if your belongongs are valuable and irreplaceable, then we strongly urge you to consider safeguarding your move with insurance.

On the 10th of March 2004 the “Financial Services Reform Act” came into effect. Under this act, it is against the law for anyone, other than an  Australian Financial Services Licensee, to advise, sell or arrange insurance on someone else’s behalf. Only the owner of the goods can insure their goods against accidental damage.

Under the Trades Practices Act, sections 68 & 74, a courier or carrier has no implied duty of care of goods in their custody and control and therefore cannot be held liable for any accidental damage. If the owner of the goods does not insure or takes the risk of not insuring their goods, that is a risk they have taken and therefore a loss that they alone will incur.

You can apply for Household/Office Removals Insurance with your current home & contents insurer, through Zurich or by simply searching google.

Advice

  • Keep a box seperate for all important documents, keys, wallets, cheque books etc,
  • Backup your computer hard disks, if you don’t have an external hard drive you can use MyPC Backup whose motto is Don’t Lose Your Digital Life!
  • If possible, arrange for children and/or pets to be minded on packing and uplift days.

Packing Yourself

  • Please arrange cartons from us,
  • Please seal and label each carton clearly,
  • Please do not overfill cartons or make large cartons too heavy,
  • Please clean your barbeque,
  • Empty your stereo and dvd players of discs,
  • If your furniture is going into storage, please switch off your fridge/freezer and clean and dry,
  • If your fridge is going with you, leave food until last.

Us Packing

  • Please put all clothes on beds for us NOT TO PACK,
  • Make a survival package from your kitchen for your evening meals and breakfast,
  • Please leave a vehicle or two outside to assist with parking for truck,
  • Please label all rooms with the destination of next room,
  • We will do everything else.

Unpacking

  • Yes we offer an unpacking service, it’s something to think about to help reduce the stress of moving,
  • We offer a full unpack down to a partial unpack,
  • We remove all waste from unpacking,
  • We will even reconnect your stereo’s, and basic TV, DVD, Computer setups,
